Location
This was taken during a workshop based on studio flour images. The location was a small village a hall that got very message, very quickly.Time
The workshop was rung in the evening between 19:00 to 21:3o give or take.Lighting
There were two strobes on either side of the dancer with large softboxes which had been gridded. The strobe needs to be on the side to light up the flour.Equipment
I was using a Sony Alpha A7 mkIII with a canon lens - 24-70mm F2.8lInspiration
This image came about as a collaboration between myself and the dance. Asking about her style of dance and favourite move/line. Getting her to show the move, then we added the flour to get the movement. It is all about movement and power.Editing
Yes, because of the closeness of some of the strobes, post-processing in photoshop was required to remove them and tidy the background. Not to mention the flour on the floor. In my camera bag
Normally just the Sony A7 Mk III with a 35 mm lens.Feedback
Once you have your technical side of thing sorted (camera set-up and lights), it is all about working with your dancer and the soft skills. Build a connection with them and keep the session fun.
