Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot in New York City, at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum to be exact. It's a museum situed in a aircraft carrier where we can see a rocket, multiple aircrafts and even visit a submarine.

Time

I went thure during an afternoon at the beginning of December.

Lighting

When I went, I got lucky. The week before my travel, it was snowing in New York but the whole time I was there it was sunny and warm. Then a few days after I left they got a snow storm. I don't know if it's interesting to share but it amazed me to get that lucky.

Equipment

At that time I owned a Nikon D5300 and used a Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3.

Inspiration

There were allt those beautiful aircrafts and I saw the sun right behind them. I'm someone who likes trapping the sun on objects or in between leaves, etc... So at that moment it was worth taking a shot.

Editing

I used Lightroom to adjust the lights and shadows and modified a bit the colors to give it a more dramatic look.

In my camera bag

Now I essentially have my Nikon z6II with a Nikkor 14-30mm f/4 S and 24-70mm f/4 S, I carry them everywhere.

Feedback

Waiting for the sun to be low in sky, in the end of afternoons the light is softer and will allow you to not have hard shadows that you'll be able to enlight in post production.
