Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Hydes, Maryland, USA. The areas is dotted with horse farms and rolling hills.

Time

This photo was taken soon after the sun rose. Storms were threatening that day, so I was able to take advantage of the forming clouds and the beautiful morning light.

Lighting

Equipment

I shot this with a Sony A300 and natural lighting. I actually don't remember what lens I used.

Inspiration

I have been driving past this farm on an almost daily basis for the last few years. I always loved the way barn set back in the meadow with woods on one side. The fence line seems to draw me back to the farm. FINALLY, one day I actually got around to getting my photo.

Editing

Since I shoot in RAW, post processing is necessary. I got rid of a bit of hazing and noise reduction and also brought the saturation to a point where it looked like what I was actually seeing through the lens.

In my camera bag

I carry a pretty small bag, so I try to plan for what I expect to be shooting. Generally, a couple of lens, and a flash. Sometimes a tripod. That's about it.

Feedback

Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon for the best lighting. Take a tripod.
