Location
The photo was taken in Saksun in the Faroe Islands.Time
This was actually taken around 1 or 2 PM but since it was so cloudy it seemed much later.Lighting
I really wanted to create a new look at such an over photographed location, so instead of focusing on the lake, I focused on this nice road, river, and church with the cliffs in the background. I was happy with how everything but the sky turned out. It seems blown out with highlights to me.Equipment
I used a Canon T5 with a Rokinon 16mm lens I was freestanding in the wind.Inspiration
The inspiration for this particular photo was from the first Ansel Adam's photograph I saw. There was a simple church with odd architecture, and it really drew me to these Faroese churches.Editing
I used lightroom to do some basic light edits to clean it up, but to be honest it didnt need much work. It was a good frame. In my camera bag
I usually carry lucky rocks from Iceland, and the Faroes, as well as my Canon t5 my rokinon 16mm, an 18-55mm and a 170-300mm Canon lenses. I also use a manfrotto tripod, and a Japanese glass buoy I found in Alaska.Feedback
If you're trying to catch something similar, dont. Try to catch something better. The photo was all great lighting and scenery. Plan your shots. Use weather apps like weather underground and find the weather that you want to shoot at the destination you want, and just go there knowing you prepared everything you could to capture the perfect frame! Good Luck!
