I shot this photo of my son was while we were riding in Glamis California.Time
I shot this on film at about 1 in the afternoon some 20+ years ago. It was a perfect day for shooting and riding.Lighting
Full sunlight allowed me to shoot with a fast shutter speed and smaller aperture.Equipment
I shot this with an old Minolta with a 50mm but it's been so long I don't remember what model it was. I carried the camera in a hard fanny case to protect it while riding.Inspiration
The sand and sky were perfect for riding as well as photographs.Editing
I know that I scanned this from the color negative, I'm pretty sure that I applied some sharpening to the motorcycle and rider and a little blurring to the sand so soften some of the grains of sand.In my camera bag
I typically shoot now with Nikon z7ii. I love the 24-70 mm lens and is my standard carry. I also love my Nikon 70-200. I shoot portraits with Sigma 105 art lens.Feedback
Shooting from a motorcycle in deep sand requires excellent riding skills. Today's mirrorless cameras will make getting shot a lot easier but getting to a location like this with huge sand dunes will take some special equipment.
