The nice thing about macro photography, is that you focus on small subjects which as in this case was in my garden.Time
To be honest, I was bored and wanted to get out. I took my camera and 100mm macro lens and went for a walk through my garden hoping to find something of interest. I noticed these flowers and played with depth of field resulting in this picture. It was midday, making it easy to handheld the camera.Lighting
The lighting was pure african sunlight.Equipment
Camera used was my trusty canon 70d and canon 100mm macro lens.Inspiration
I wanted something different, more artistic and interesting from the garden.Editing
Due to the structure of the flowers and the shallow depth of field, it wasn't required to do focus stacking. Limited processing was required just the basic reduction in highlights and a bit vibrance. In my camera bag
It depends, for macro photography, I would include a focus rail, extension tubes, tripod and cable release. For lighting I would include a speedlight and diffuser.Feedback
Take your time and focus on the small things around us, use various angles and pay attention to the background. Take more than just one photo, especially if the camera is hand held.
