Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph, or should I say a set of 3 exposures, was taken of the moat at the rear of Angkor Wat, Cambodia in November 2017.

Time

Our Intrepid Tour Group was up early to take photos of the entrance to Angkor Wat at sunrise. Once we had completed those shots we lazily made our way by foot around to the rear of Angkor Wat to locate our bus and move on to our next stop. This photo was shot at 6:55am.

Lighting

As soon as I got to this spot I could already see the photo in my head. I took 3 exposures at -2, 0, +2 handheld.

Equipment

Equipment used was my old trusty Sony A77 and Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 lens. No tripod.

Inspiration

As soon as I got to the spot I know it would be a great shot for HDR. Just glad it came out the way I saw it.

Editing

3 exposures at -2, 0, +2 edited using Aurora HDR 2018.

In my camera bag

At that current time I had my Sony A77, Zeiss 16-35mm f2.8, Zeiss 24-20mm f2.8 and Sony 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 lenses. I did not take a tripod with me. All shots on this tour were without tripod.

Feedback

I was lazy and didn't take a tripod. Have a steady hand if you are lazy like me. Be there early in the morning. Under and over expose so you get all the details in the final shot. Use good post processing software.
