Location
This image was taken under the 'boardwalk' (or as we in the UK would say the 'pier') in The Mumbles, Swansea, Wales UK. Swansea is a beautiful place full of unique beaches and coastline that's simply divine to photographTime
This image was taken late morning, after a morning coffee with my wife in the coffee shop on the top of the Pier.Lighting
Waiting for the perfect conditions for lighting is like wishing your life away! It's very few times that we'll come across perfect lighting in the Great Outdoors, so rather than waste time waiting, use the conditions that you're given and work it.Equipment
I used my Fujifilm X Series X-T1 camera body for the this shot, with a Fujinon 35mm f1.4 lens on a sturdy tripodInspiration
I loved the contrast between God-made and Man-made, and also the similarity of the rocks and the cloud formations caught my eyeEditing
I do the most basic of post-processing in Adobe Lightroom, and I'm a lover of great contrast and colour so my attention gets paid to these areasIn my camera bag
I've always got my Fujifilm X-T1 with me, with the 35mm f1.4 lens attached, with a Peak Design Slide strap and a Cuff handstrap. I've also always got my smartphone with me as my back-up camera - always handy when you want to take sneaky shots. At the moment I've just signed up to the Huawei P20 Pro because of the Leica camera and lens and am finding it really very impressive. In fact, the last print that I sold was taken on my P20 Pro rather than my FujiFeedback
Work the scene - walk around the scene BEFORE you put the tripod down in order to find the best angle before 'tying' yourself to one spot
