Behind The Lens

Location

The Adraga beach in Sintra - Portugal, is an iconic photographic place. The wait for the ideal conditions was long, but it was worth it.

Time

It is at sunset that the place comes to life. On this day everything came together. The tide and location of the sun could predict, the drama of the clouds was the bonus

Lighting

Various compositions and framing are possible on site. The sun peering out and the gold of the light, looking up, attracted me. This is what I was looking for.

Equipment

Nikon D750 16.0-35.0 mm f/4.0 Tripod

Inspiration

This photo was taken during a workshop, where the conditions that we would find were very well studied. The place is well known by the photographic community

Editing

Post production is always done in Photoshop. In this case using Luminosity masks

In my camera bag

With me I usually carry the Nikon D750 camera, at least two lenses (16-35 and 24-70), remote triggers (cable and radio), ND filters and GND, Polarizer. I can also take my old Canon as a back-up. The tripod is a fundamental tool as well. Cleaning cloths, flashlight, batteries and memory cards can never be missed too

Feedback

In this as in all the places that I visit, it is necessary to make a previous evaluation of the place. In this case he had gone to the site a week before to study access. Then we must study very well the conditions that we will find (tide, position of the sun, wind, clouds). Finally, we hope that the conditions we can not control help us. In this case it was the light and the drama of the clouds. As everything came together I had "the photo", if not I will surely come back again
