Wow! That is one hell of a creepy imagery. Is it a swamp or a wildfire aftermath? Either way, you don't generally stumble upon that kind of scenery!

Amazing !!! That's a pure photography, as you capture the light. It makes me dream... Really, really great. I'm serious.

Location
I shot this scene at my favorite place "Black Bayou National wildlife refuge, Louisiana"Time
It was just after the sunrise on cold day, probably 10 or 15 mins after sunrise.Lighting
I shoot normally at evening time but got the news from local ranger that past two days the lake is more foggy at early morning due to sudden dip in temperature. I reached the place before sunrise and set up the camera. As expected it was dense foggy and after the 10 mins of sunrise the landscape completely changed to golden smokey. It was complete magical which I never witnessed.Equipment
My most trusted Canon 6d and Canon 24 - 105. Always mounted to tripod. No flash used.Inspiration
Black Bayou National refuge probably I visit almost every weekend. I was very fortunate to stay very close by and the refuge provide plentiful opportunity in every season. Each season the landscapes changes differently and almost all images taken at same place but doesn't look like it is from same location.Editing
Yes. I do post-processing and it is very important process. The original picture is very flat and it is nothing like this. I generally enhance the colors and contrast. Adjust blacks and whites. Remove the noise if required and sharpen the images at last.In my camera bag
Canon 6D, Canon 24 -105 and Tamron 150 - 600 are my default gears. I carry everywhere everytime. Along with these I carry Canon 7D Mark ii, Rokinon 14mm and Canon 100mm if it required.Feedback
In this case gathering information and planning accordingly gave me a stunning photography opportunity. Being yourself in the spot at right time is the most important part in making stunning photographs.
