Behind The Lens
Location
I took this shot at home atop the white, wide window sill in the kitchen. That was the first time I ever utilized the space before for photography.Time
It was taken a little after 3:00 pm on a weekend. I remember it because it was right after my mom came home from work. It was cloudy out because it's almost always cloudy, but there were a few blue holes in the grayness that shone pure light on the grass below.Lighting
The window was behind the vase and it's just so huge that I didn't need to add any extra lighting. Because it was cloudy out, the lighting was just how I wanted it.Equipment
This was shot on my Grande X ZTE phone, which normally takes pretty pathetic, blurry pictures so I was excited when I saw how this came out. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
My mom just came home from work and she presented me with a beautiful Styrofoam cup she had transformed into a vase by wrapping it up in blue and green wrapping paper and pinning flowers to the sides. She filled it up with yellow buttercups and other things from outdoors. I thought it looked amazing and was very surprised that she made it at work. I thought it deserved to get it's picture taken.Editing
I took the shot in black and white, and gave it a vintage look after so the sides would have a blackened glow.In my camera bag
In my normal photography bag, I have my Canon T5, charger and the cord to connect the camera to the computer. I'm very basic.Feedback
Try to get it directly above your subject. If you have a tripod, I recommend you use it to ensure the photo comes out non-blurry. If you want to have some fun, I would set a slower shutter speed and zoom in and out to make a cool abstract photo. Make sure there's a sheet over the window or light source so it's not blown out.
