Location
This photo was taken at a small park near Lake Lavon in North Texas. I often take my dogs there to play frisbee where they can run off leash as I'm usually the only one there.Time
This was near the end of the day. The park closes down at sunset so I was holding the frisbee but not throwing so the dogs would cool down and rest before hopping in the Jeep for the drive home.Lighting
I just put them in front of the sunset and tried to balance exposure as best as I could. I used a single raw image and then created three "bracketed" shots from that one shot and created the pseudo HDR image.Equipment
I shot the image with a Canon 5d Mark III and 17-40F4, it was handheld.Inspiration
It's rare to get both of these dogs to stand still in one shot and the sunset was too beautiful not to try. So I placed the frisbee on the top of my head and took the shot.Editing
Photo was processed in Lightroom to create 3 shots of different exposures and then they were blended in Photoshop CC.In my camera bag
Nowadays I always have my Canon 1Dx, my Canon 11-24F4L, 70-200F2.8L II IS and 100-400F4.5L II.Feedback
Using a single raw image to create hdr is easy if you balance the exposure so that your sunset is not quite blown out and the subjects are underexposed but not so much that you can't recover the data from the shadows.
