Time

This photo I took on a misty morning. For me, the combination of mist and trees is just perfect.

Lighting

Mist always gives these nice mysterious lighting conditions.

Equipment

I made this photo with my good, old Sony NEX-5N on a tripod. This camera has been my beloved working horse for several years but now I use a Sony a6500.

Inspiration

The location is a location that I already know for many years. I have been there many times, during different conditions and I keep coming back here.

Editing

I always apply post-processing as I always shoot in RAW. For this one, the post-processing was rather limited though. Some color and contrast corrections were the main changes I made.

In my camera bag

I try to travel light. I have a small mirror-less camera such that I could easily take it with me while mountain biking and hiking. I mainly use my 18-200 lens which is perfect for the kind of photos I like. Next to that lens, I always take my 10-18 with me. For the rest I take a bunch of filters with me for long exposure shots, but all in all my amount of equipment is rather limited and light! I also use a 50 mm and 85 mm for portraits.

Feedback

The eastern part of the Netherlands has some very beautiful forests and avenues. Especially during autumn and when there is some mist, it is very beautiful for photography. So don't think that you cannot take beautiful photos while there is fog. That is what I always thought as a beginner and that is always what many other beginners think. My biggest misconception ever. But do use a tripod for better results. I have a very light one that is easy to carry around and it ensures that when there is not some much light, it still have perfectly sharp photos at low ISO. Revisit locations often and search for beautiful places nearby such that you can go there often.
