Location
This was photographed in the State of Ohio in 2013 from a blind. I had a very difficult time to squeeze in the blind with another professional photographer beside me. When the wood ducks including other birds, all ducks species, starting to land on the pond surrounded by woods, I watched and observed their behaviour and waited till the light was enough to see them. It was fun!Time
It was photographed early in the morning between7:30am to 8:00 am on a cold morning!Lighting
The lighting shining over the birds that were moving around and chasing each other. Since it was the morning time and the Sun was rising, the golden light was just falling over the birds! The pond and the birds that were under the main golden rays of the Sunlight looked amazing! I was able to capture a perfect moment that was worth sharing with all lovers of nature photographers in different sites!Equipment
I was using the Nikon D700 mounted the Nikon 600mm + 1.2 teleconverters! The tripod was used but none of the flashes were employed at the moment. I try to avoid flashes to take birds pics unless it deems absolutely necessary.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of birds and chase lights! The color of the birds and water body, little bit reflection, natural movement of birds were all some of the factors that inspired me to take this photo.Editing
This photo did not require much post-processing. I simply boosted light and saturation to make the pic pop up. Other than that, this photo maintains its originality by all means! In my camera bag
I tailored my equipment that I would carry in my bag depending on my job. Normally, I carry two camera bodies, 3-4 fully charged batteries, a tripod, a long range flash but I prefer not to use it while taking pictures of birds, couple of memory cards, few UV and ND filters.Feedback
Take several pics hoping that you would be able to get some good one like one above! Check your shutter speed to freeze the movement, boost up iso, check your histogram, watch out the direction of light, and background. If you pay attention to these basic factors, you might end of getting good photos!
