Behind The Lens

Location

i am a self taught photographer, and this particular photo was taken in my home, using natural light, then photoshop for editing.

Time

it was mid day and my youngest was playing with the blanket in the picture, and i could see this photo in my head, so i set positioned him how i wanted the light to hit his face just right, and i love how it turned out .

Lighting

i wanted the photo to be playful and draw you into his face, so i used the natural lighting from the window to hit his face just right to show off the featues i wanted highlighted.

Equipment

this was taken on my cannon eos rebel sl1 with my 18-55 mm lens

Inspiration

i love taking photos of my kids, and using natural light. and this was one of those i could see it in my head and then it all came together in the photograpgh.

Editing

i wanted his face to be the main subject of the photo so brought the exposure down to give it the dark feel and highlighted the face and blamket he has to make it stand out more, and fished by whitening the eyes to really make them stand out and draw you into them.

In my camera bag

i usually have my cannon eos rebel sl1 with my 18-55 mm lens, polar lenses depending on lighting, extra batteries, and a tripod .

Feedback

for a photo like this its about drawing you in, so lighting is key. knowing how to darken and lighten as needed without going o far , for the perfect mix will create a dramatic photo.
