Location
I took this in Belfast, which is a lovely city, its wasn't the first time I have ventured to the city but it was the first time not on a business trip. So I had more time to walk around and see what it had to offer.Time
It was about mid day after a morning walking around Belfast (26 Mar 2015 10.45am)Lighting
The day was over cast with hints of light breaking though the gaps in the clouds which threatened opening their contents down on the city below. I think if it was any brighter I would have lost a lot of the contrast.Equipment
I used Canon 60D and Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5 -6.3 Di II VC PZD hand held no flash. When I travel I use either the Tamron or Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 depending where I am and time of the year. The Tamron is a great lens, if I could change anything it would be to have a constant aperture and no lens creep.Inspiration
I like taking photos that usual are not taken by other people which I suppose is a bit of a cliche. I look for different perspectives, angles and textures, don't get me wrong I still take the usual post card stuff, hey I'm on holiday, but I like coming home with some unique stuff as well.Editing
I do use light room but I try and do the the minimal amount of tinkering. I get more satisfaction out of picture that needs no messing with and as I get better at taking pictures I find that I'm doing less cropping etc with my pictures. I do occasional get a pic which I really want to work, then I may go mental on it to see if there is anything there also it helps with my progression with learning news skills. sometimes its not about what to do but what not to do, if you keep adding stuff it can all get a bit messy. In my camera bag
Now I have got a Canon 7D, Tamron 18-270mm, Sigma 17-50mm and sometimes my Sirui tripod that's pretty much it.Feedback
Get up close, personal and on your knees if you have to. I think sometimes its easy to fall into the trap and to stand back and try to get everything into a picture, but this can leave the picture soulless or with no real feeling. I think its more about what you subtract that can make the difference which It also means that the picture can mean more to more people as the art of being vague can elevate a good picture to a great one.
