This photo was taken during the annual Paddlefest in Buena Vista, Colorado on the Arkansas River. I was just starting to learn more about using the sports mode on my new Canon SX50 HS.Time
This was taken in the afternoon during one of the contests called the Rodeo. It was a little cloudy and cold that day with sun coming out off and on all day.Lighting
This was all natural lighting as with these kind of shots taken during these kind of events you are pretty much at the mercy of nature.Equipment
I used my Canon SX50 HS Sure Shot as I was trying to balance myself on some rocks on the side of the river. So no tripod or extra lighting.Inspiration
I love watching these folks get down and dirty in that white water. My husband is a white water kayaker when I watch these men and women do what they do, i can'rt help but want to capture it.Editing
Actually no post processing other than a little bit of adjusting on contrast and color. In my camera bag
Right now I am just starting to really get into DSLR and have new camera equipment but not much more than my new Canon and a new lense.Feedback
What I love about taking pictures on the river is it is always changing. Each shot has new ways the water is showing itself. Different shapes and colors present themselves constantly. Always move into different positions, higher, lower, in the water and above the water. Never be afraid to get wet!!!
