Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken at a local photography Expo.Time
Around noon, it was indoors so the time didn't really have a big part to play.Lighting
The model was in water so little waterproof lights were used and they were hand held. There was also a more conventional lighting setup that was above her.Equipment
I used a canon 1200D with a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens, no flash was needed as the lighting setup was good enough.Inspiration
I have been wanting to take more pictures of people like this for a while now , especially with the professional setup of lights and makeup already done, it was a chance I couldn't resist.Editing
Post processing was done to bring out the colours of her makeup and also her eyes as well as to make the reflection in the water more noticeable. In my camera bag
I normally have my Canon 1200D and the Canon 55-250 as well as the canon 18-55 kit lens that came with my 1200D. For general photography that you want to do on the fly without too much setup it's pretty good and it covers most situations.Feedback
Lighting is quite important, it the difference between a normal quick shot of someone and a shot worthy of being on a magazine, getting good at it will definitely step up your photography. Timing is also something to take note of, the model can subtly change her facial features in between shots and it can be the difference between a natural look or a stilted fake one, try capture it all so you can pick and choose.
