This photo was taken on Alberta Highway 61 heading east towards Wrentham, Alberta Canada. I saw the storm coming in from the north and was amazed at the clouds and how ominous looking they were.Time
I was on my way home from work and shopping it was about 6:30 - 7:00 pm. As I drive I am always looking for a great shot! It seemed dark and when I looked north I saw why it was dark.Lighting
It was early evening but darker than it should have been. I didn't use the flash or have extra lighting.Equipment
I only had the Canon PowerShot SD750 my mother left me. I pulled over on the side of the highway and didn't really pay attention to any settings on the camera as I had no clue how to set them. I call this my lucky shot.Inspiration
I am always looking for that great capture of clouds, sunrises etc. As I was driving home that day it seemed really dark, I looked north and saw these clouds they were very dark and ominous. I loved the way they looked like they were almost touching the fields in the north. I live in an area of Alberta that has big sky and lots of fields, you can see for miles!Editing
To tell you the truth I don't really remember what I did post-processing. And the terminology I am not familiar with as I am a newbie at everything! I know I darkened the clouds and enhanced the color of the fields and road. All I know is that even before the post -processing this was and is one of my favorite photos. In my camera bag
I have my Canon EOS 7D body and my 18-135MM lens and I have just recently added another lens EFS 10 - 18mm to my bag. I also pack along my little Powershot as well. And looking to add another lens to my bag hopefully soon.Feedback
Like I have said previously I am a newbie to all of this. The one thing that I have learned is whenever you go out for a drive, or in my case just a trip to the big city (I live 60 miles from a large centre) don't forget your gear! It always happen that you see the sun hitting a tree the right way, or the sun settting/rising on the horizon is amazing and you reach for your camera and well you left it at home. And well one other thing ...HAVE FUN!
