This photo was taken on my way home from work. I pulled over on the highway to take this shot. I was on Highway 61 east just west of Wrentham Alberta. The storm was approaching fast from the south. I am an amateur photographer but love trying to capture the different elements of nature!Time
I was on my way home from work about 6pm and was trying to get home before the storm hit. It was approaching fast, but I had to take a few minutes to snap this shot. And in reality I shouldn't have stopped as I did get caught in the storm a few miles down the road.Lighting
The lighting was strictly natural. I had always tried to capture that one shot without using extra lighting etc. I was shocked that the shot came out as good as it did! This was a complete fluke and beginners luck!!Equipment
The only equipment I used was a Canon PowerShot SD750, it was my mother's camera which I got when she passed. I believe she was with me guiding me that day!Inspiration
I have always wanted to be able to capture that perfect shot, and this was the day when Mother Nature was not in a good mood and basically I was in the right place and time. Weather events such as this one scare me but at the same time I love it!Editing
I am not familiar with any post processing terms, but I will be honest I did do some post processing. I played around with bringing out the darkness of the darkness of the cloud. I am slowly teaching myself more about post processing. In my camera bag
I have to admit that I usually just had my mom's little camera with me, but I have upgraded to a EOS 7D Canon. And with the upgrade, I usually have in the camera bag my EOS7D along with my EFS18-135mm lens and my EFS 10-18mm. I have also recently started to bring my tripod with me. I am still a beginner and always learning.Feedback
The only advice I can give is to always have your camera with you and ready! I wish someone had given me that advice as I have missed out on taking so many photos I can't even count. And I lucked out with this photo as I only took one shot of it, but take multiple shots of whatever you are photographing. And lastly have fun while you are out and about looking for that one special photo!!!
