Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Moore's Meadow in Prince George British Columbia in the Spring of 2011. It is one of my favourites shots and is the first photo that I have shared on Viewbug.

Time

It was taken in the early afternoon while on a walk with my daughter and our dogs.

Lighting

It was an overcast day and I used natural lighting.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon D300S with Nikon 70-300mm lens set at 300mm. I used aperture priority, ISO 400, F5.6

Inspiration

Louie, my Aussie Shepherd is always so happy and full of energy. I take my camera with me whenever we go for walks. He usually is doing something silly or I find an interesting scenery or nature image to capture.

Editing

I have only done very basic adjustments in Lightroom for this image. I was happy with the natural look and didn't think it needed much more.

In my camera bag

I carry a Lowepro backpack with my Nikon D300S, and all Nikon lenses, 28-70 f2.8, 70-300 f4.5-5.6, 50mm f1.8 and my favourite, an older metal body 105mm f2.8 macro that I have from my old Nikon film camera

Feedback

It is a lot of fun to try to capture the personality of our pets. They don't pose well so they are great for practicing action shots. I try to be prepared with battery charged, and camera ready. You never know what could happen next!
