Location
I took this photo when I visited the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. I came across this dragon fly in the Japanese garden. I guess you could say I was lucky to get this shot as I had only purchased my Canon 600D a few months before and was not yet familiar with using the settings on Manual so I took it with the sports setting.Time
2.30 pm .Lighting
Perhaps a little too bright but enough light to illuminate the dragon flies wings which has made the shot.Equipment
Canon 600D Hand heldInspiration
I just love it when I am lucky enough to see insects and wild life in my environment. Dragons flies appeal to me and this is the first time I have been ready with my camera to get a photo of one.Editing
Apart from adjusting the contrast there is not other post processing. In my camera bag
As I have only ever had point and shoot cameras before, my Canon 600D is the first DSLR. The lens that came with the camera when I purchased it were a 55-250 mm 1:3.5 - 5.6 zoom lens (Which I think I used for this shot), an 18- 55 mm 1: 3.5 - 5.6 wide angle and a 50 mm 1:1.8 macro lens.Feedback
When taking on something new the best way to learn is to practice practice and practice. If you are not sure what settings to use on manual mode take note of the settings the camera chooses when in the auto modes that have worked out well and use them again with similar shots fine tuning as you go along.
