This photo was taken in Cardiff City center. I am studying a photography degree in Cardiff so I get some free time to shoot in between lectures.Time
This was taken in the early afternoon. I was on lunch break when it started raining. I took the camera out to capture some enviromental shots of people.Lighting
the weather depicted the lighting for the image. Overcast and reflective wet cement offered nice light on the subject.Equipment
I used my nikon D3s camera and Nikkor 85mm 1.4 g lens. I love this combination for street photography. ou can Isolate the subjects from a close distance, keeping a sense of intimacy. I shot this at f2 to minimise backdound distractions and keep the shutter speed fast enough to capture the fleeting moment.Inspiration
She , the subject inspired me to take the image. her expression was fleeting but there's a story to be told.Editing
I used a black and white approach to the post processing to remove any distracting colours, placing the emphasis on the lady and her expression. I process in lightroom. I increased the contrast to emphasise the tones in the image. I lenhanced the natural vignette from the lens to draw the eye and frame the subject. In my camera bag
When shooting street photography it's the camera and 85mm 1.4 g or the 50mm 1.8 g for a wider view.Feedback
Spend soe time looking and observing interesting subjects. Not just their appearence but if there's expression or a story to be told. Be respectful to people, sime be nice and have fun. Don't be afraid to "get caught" taking a photo. Most people are ok being photographed, if they notice you say HI and have a chat. I've met some awesome people while taking "candid" images. most of all just enjoy taking photographs and learing about people.
