This shot is wonderful! Chef looks like he has a wicked sense of humor! I think you did a magnificent job on capturing this personality! Bravo!

Location
This Image was taken at a restraunt in Cardiff. The counter and kitchen are very close together and on the main street, this allowed me to nab a portrait of this delightful gent.Time
During my days at university I have a lot of free time between lectures. In the Mid afternoon on a winters day the warm glow of the restraunt and the smell of amazing food drew me to the counter, the shot was a byproduct of follwing my stomach (and nose)Lighting
As this is a unposed portrait in a kitchen, I was working with available light. I shot this at F2.8 for a nice depth of field and adequate shutter speed to freeze the micro expressions I love to capture.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3s and Nikon 85mm 1.4G lens. My favorite combination for street portraits.Inspiration
The Chef. He is a real character and was delightful to talk to, I wanted to capture his warmth and happiness.Editing
In Lightroom I made some regular contrast, white balance adjustments and increased the clarity. This kind of image doesn't really need a lot of post production. In my camera bag
My Nikon D3s, I love the camera, although there has been a few new models this one is right for me. My 85mm 1.4G this is my favorite lens, the 3d effects that can be achieved are awesome and the skin tones are just....wow. Finally a Nikon 24-70 f2.8, another super lens by Nikon.Feedback
From personal experience, being comfortable and respectful is more important than photography equipment. Have fun meeting new people! most are happy to be photographed, in fact, a number of people have said "you've made my day!" and felt happy that someone thought they were interesting and worth photographing.
