Location
I set up the backdrop in the front lobby of a local frame shop in Portsmouth NH.Time
It was noon time but since this was an indoor shoot I set up by aalarge window to allow some natural light in and used my speed light for additional lighting.Lighting
Nothing special. I used a speed light 430EXII and natural window lighting.Equipment
This is a good example that you don't need top of the line equipment to take a good photo, although I dream to have a camera bag worth bragging about one day right now I use my cannon 60D with stock lens (EFS 18-135) and a speed light 430EXII.Inspiration
I'm a newborn photographer and a dog lover so when I met little mister Rudy, the French bulldog, at just 8 weeks old I could not resist the opportunity for a puppy newborn session.Editing
Because safety is my first priority when it comes to my little models, many of my poses have to be manipulated. I do not actually hang any newborns (puppies or humans ) in the air rather I pose them on a beanbag and have an assistant to help hold the scarf taut for the photo and edit the backdrop in later. In my camera bag
Cannon 60D, speed light 430EXII, a few stock lenses, nothing crazy.Feedback
Set up and prepare the shot first. The last thing you should worry about is posing the puppy because they will only stay still for so long and you will have to work fast once you have him positioned. Also, staying calm and patient is the key to any newborn puppy or baby session, if you feel stressed they can sense it and it will only make it that much harder to get the pose you want.
