Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in April on the bank of the river Dnieper on which situated my native city Dnepropetrovsk.

Time

The photo was taken at sunrise.

Lighting

The photo was taken early morning, when risen sun shone a warm golden light, breaking through the trees on the bank and insolated a seagull that was sitting on a tree branch.

Equipment

The photo was taken on Nikon d3100 + af-s Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6g vr.

Inspiration

When I was walking along the riverbank, I noticed in the water on a tree branch a seagull. It sat quietly and basked in the golden rays of the risen sun. And there was nobody around. It is precisely this atmosphere of morning silence, peace and serenity inspired me to create a photo.

Editing

All post-processing was to transfer the colour image to black and white. It was necessary to remove the colour accent and eventually picture became calmer, more graphical, laconic and dramatic.

In my camera bag

I use the following equipment: a tripod, camera Nikon d3100, and several objective lenses: Sigma af 10-20 mm f4-5.6 ex dc hsm, af-s Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6g vr, af-s Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, Helios-81H 50mm f/2.

Feedback
