Location
This photo was taken at a spice garden near to where I lived.Time
It was around 11am in the late morning when the sun is high and bright.Lighting
The bright sunlight is good for this shot as i'm using a 400mm f/5.6 L lens without IS and high shutter speed is necessary to ensure the shot is sharp.Equipment
I was using the 5D Mark III with EF 400mm f/5.6 L lens.Inspiration
This is one of the first few shots I took with a 5D Mark III and I was exploring the combination with a 400mm lens. Was walking around in the spice garden and saw this beautiful butterfly and immediately I raised the 400mm lens and trigger a few continuous shot of it while it was resting on the leaf.Editing
Yes, I used lightroom to enhance the colors, saturation, and bring out more details from the highlights and shadows. In my camera bag
5D Mark III, 7D, EF 400mm f/5.6 L, EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, EF 35mm f/2, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro VC, Nissin Di866 Mark II flash.Feedback
Use high shutter speed (> 1/500s) and Auto-ISO with continuous Autofocus and high speed multiple shot setting. Look for butterfly that flies in a relatively slower speed, and observe it's flying path to predict where it's going to land.
