Behind The Lens

Location

The Acdemy of Sciences in San Francisco.

Time

Afternoon, but it was in the Rainforest exhibit at the Academy of Sciences.

Lighting

The light in the rainforest exhibit streams downward from the glass ceiling I saw these two butterflies at ground level so the light was minimal.

Equipment

I used my Nikon d60 with a Nikkor 55-300mm lens. I did not use an external flash, just the built-in camera flash.

Inspiration

I didn't realize there were two butterflies until was very close to them and I was inspired by their positioning.

Editing

I cropped this photo slightly in order to eliminate excess dark background .

In my camera bag

I typically carry my Nikon cameras as well as an external flash and several lenses including the 55-300 a 50mm , and 40mm (along with the standard 18-55).

Feedback

Take your time, sometimes subjects that are not interesting at first glance can surprise you!
