Behind The Lens

Location

Taken at a friend of the families home

Time

around 2pm

Lighting

Cheap as chips... Neewer 500w home studio lights with 2 x 48 inch diffusers

Equipment

Camera: NIKON D600 .... Neewer 500w home studio kit

Inspiration

The young lady is an aspiring dancer / actress....... I asked her to go through a range of emotions when she suddenly pulled this surprise face....... One of my favourites from the few hours we had...

Editing

Used Adobe Photoshop to soften with the Nik Silver Efex pro to turn B&W and a few adjustment layers.

In my camera bag

This is a very strange question ...at the time I had everything in my bag including the kitchen sink just in case I needed to make a cuppa while I was on a shoot .. It would be easier to say what I didn't have in my bag.. I now love going out with my Fuji X Pro-1 and a couple of lenses. 28mm F2.8 & 18mm F2 the 18mm being the preferred lens for me and I've yet to really use the 28mm or find out what its good for but that's my next learning experience. From one extreme to another the lighter the better but still learning to get that better than last time image with less gear.

Feedback

Get your model comfortable in front of the camera with a few jokes... I'll normally take the first 10 minutes then tell them I've forgot to put a memory card in the camera.... Alzhiemers kicking in ... I'll then ask them to pull a funny face and slyly capture it using live view to focus this then becomes your bargaining chip....If I don't get any better images this ones going up......
