I love how you can see the movement in each section of the ride. Great Capture!

Location
This photo was taken at the Minneapolis State Fair.Time
Couldn't say the exact time. It was later in the day almost closing time and the fair started to clear out.Lighting
Had to wait tell later. Wasn't dark enough. Tried first with ND filters but didn't have much luck.Equipment
I use a Canon 1ds Mark iii with a canon 14mm 2.8l. I didn't want to cary a tripod all day around the fair so I used a Joby "Gorilla Pod X". Really like the versatility of the small Tripod some times. In this case I had it on the fence so I could be right under the ride. Another reason I had to wait tell later in the night when there wasn't a lot of people bumping the fence. I really like long exposure's. Like trying to find the right exposure time can be a real challenge to get it right and every photo is little different.Editing
I'm a Photoshop and On1 user.In my camera bag
I'm a canon shooter and a spoiled amateur at that. I have a great back pack" F-Stop" that lets me hold a lot of gear. My bag has Canon 1Ds Mark iii, Canon 5D sr, 14mm 2.8l, 85mm 1.2l, 16-35mm 4.0l is,100mm 2.8l macro is, 70-200mm 2.8 ii is, 100-400mm 4.5/5.6l is . As I really enjoy the long exposures I have a ton of filters and different filter holders.Gitzo Gt2540t tripod. Yes that really is my bag and its heavy. Camera Insurance on everything but the bag State farm won't insure the bag.Feedback
Keep trying. Have fun with it. Experiment with different times. You can start on Auto to get a start point. Then start to adjust your time on manual or bulb. Filters most of the time is the key to good light trails. Good luck and happy shooting.
