Great photo. The fifties called. They want their typewriter back.

Thank you, @hwishnick. I really like the way people looked like back in the 50's.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a vintage looking office space for rent. It was a very quick shoot. I bought the props a few days before that (the typewriter machine was not even working). It was a large vintage conference room with lots of old chairs and a table. I used the table and a chair.

Time

The photo was taken on a cold autumn evening. It was dark outside.

Lighting

The photo was taken with 3 light sources. Hard hair light (on the back), soft key light (on the right) and a fill from the left. The light from the windows has been manually painted in Photoshop. They were completely black but I knew what I wanted to achieve. The image was pre-visualized before the shoot so I just had to photograph it. I did another one with "night" lighting. You can see it here: https://www.viewbug.com/photo/68222392

Equipment

I used an old discontinued Canon 40D with a 17-55/2.8 Canon lens. I used Elinchrom lights for that photo but most important of all I've got a beautiful model and a nice setup.

Inspiration

I've been inspired from vintage movies and this particular scene was because of Saving Private Ryan's beginning scene with the typists.

Editing

As I said, post processing involved the windows on the back which light was hand painted in Photoshop. Oh, and I removed a visible lightstand. Other than that the image is what you actually see.

In my camera bag

I'm using different types of equipment for different jobs but most of all I carry my imagination. Lights are the most important kit. In my portfolio (official website) I even have a photo with a cell phone on my first page. I wanted to show it's the light what's important, not the camera or the lens.

Feedback

Study light. Look around you and see how different lights and light sources affect the environment and objects. Learn from cinematographers. They are the best at this.
