Ranging from 26-30 inches tall and 60-80 pounds, the Mexican Grey Wolf is the smallest sub-species of Grey Wolf in North America. They are about the size of a German Shepherd for comparison. "Lobos" are listed as critically endangered and action has been taken to increase their wild population. This particular Lobo resides at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an active member in the Mexican Grey Wolf recovery program, having released wolves into the wild and had several litters born in the zoo.
