Gaijin is the Japanese word for Outsider. Sometimes we all feel like we're on the outside of the world looking in, wishing to be a part of it in some fulfilling way. Looking at ourselves through a broken mirror that doesn't reflect.

I shot this self portrait at a time when I was feeling lost and unsure of what I was doing with my life.

I used two lights, one keylight and one gradient light placed behind me.
