Remnants from a long lost past, these 2000 year old trees exist only in high altitude temperate rainforest pockets in Australia and New Zealand (?). Survivors of a prehistoric age, the environment is no longer suitable for seed production. Instead the reproduce by sending out "suckers", creating clones of themselves. These trees are the parent trees of those growing in this area of the forest.
