Lest we Forget. I took this photo in Washington DC at the Korean War Veterans Memorial. I couldn't take my eyes from the faces of these men nor the protective hand of the soldier to the rear. May we pay respect to all soldiers and those who served in all wars to protect all nations and their peoples on this Remembrance Day. They bravely entered the unknown and fought to keep us free.
These stainless steel statues are approx. 2mtrs tall and represent various branches of the armed forces. 19 in all including 14 Army, 3 Marine and 1 each Navy and Air Force. They appear to be walking into the wind and talking to each other.

Thank you! I studied the faces of the soldier, these are incredible works of art. Almost too life like in the sense it was as if the observer were walking with them into unknown territory.

Thank you. Their faces were so real, I felt very strange standing there, yes as if they were marching towards a light!

Amazing image! Yes, your statement that they were "alive" makes complete sense. I've never been to Washington DC, but if I ever make it there, I want to walk with these soldiers, thanks to you! My Dad was in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Returned home to marry my Mom and he is still with us today.

Your dad is a true hero, I'm so happy he returned home and married your mum! Please if you can go to Washington, go! This memorial is so powerful and moving, the faces of the men are truly amazing. They show fear and anxiety, yet bravery and determination. In our time now, at least we can 'walk' with them and try to understand the emotions they were feeling.

I have recently completed a research project, which became a tribute to one of my wife's ancestors. He landed at Normandy 8 days after D-Day, and was part of the 30th infantry which liberated France, Belgium, and Holland. He was KIA in Aachen Germany on 27 Oct 1944. He died a decorated soldier, and also a teenager - age 19.
Thank you for your remembrance and beautiful rending of the Korean War Memorial. I have been there and it is very well done. - Marc
