At the foot of the Viennese Forest, Grinzing is an attractive village with brightly coloured houses set in the midst of vineyards, despite encroaching urban development. Many visitors, some of them famous, come to Grinzing to taste the new wine sold by the winegrowers in the renowned Heurigen (wine taverns), which are a source of great local pride. It's no surprise, then, that the village comes to life in the evenings, only to return to its usual peace and quiet after the clock in the onion-shaped bell tower of Grinzinger's parish church strikes midnight.
