This is a night view towards South London as seen from the Shard. The picture is taken from the viewing platform on the 72nd floor, 800 feet above the sea level. I liked this evening view because of the bright street lights. The Shard (opened in February, 2013) is the tallest building in the European Union (1017 feet) and was designed by Renzo Piano.
“London is whatever you want it to be. It is one of the greatest cities on earth. It stands on the Prime Meridian and draws in the best from East and West. It sits at the centre of Time and the world sets its watch by London’s Big Ben.”
“There is pomp and ceremony and spectacle, and yet London is also intimate with quiet corners, crooked cobbled streets, winding alleyways and sunny squires.”
Extracts from I never Knew That About London by Christopher Winn
