During my visit to Iraq, I made a stop in the city of Karbala. It is the place where more than 40 million Shia Muslims come walking hundreds of miles to pay homage to Imam Hussein. The Shia tell a story of how one man, along with 72 companions, stood agains an army of 35,000 radical Islamists, something very similar to the current situation in Iraq and the ISIS invasion.

These pilgrims risk their lives for they are exposed to sudden attacks from the ISIS militants. The pilgrims take their strength from their saint, Imam Hussein, he taught them to never bow down before a group of thugs, only ever bow down to the one who created you as a free soul.

A very heart warming experience.
