This is Big Tree or a section of him, the detail and colour of the twisted bark is truly a work of art. Big Tree is a Totara, a native to New Zealand. He's 1000 years old, medium height at 31mtrs but his girth is 8.4mtrs in diameter. You could call him 'chubby'! I took this capture in Peel Forest which is situated in the Canterbury region. Magical forest indeed!
