"Climbing is about finding the solution", or so I'm told by my eager, yet collected, good friend and climbing instructor, Teodor Iliev (23). The picture was taken in the middle of a stand-off between him and the 40 foot wall of rock that stood with an expected resilience towards his ascent. The light which catches him on his right side is from a hidden noon sun that only just creeps around the rock-face and sets a nearly perfect silhouette. In this exact moment I'm perched on an accessible ledge that sits a few meters wide from where he is; about to find the fix he needs. I got there easily enough, but for him it's a duel mere seconds before the clock strikes 12.
I shot this on a Canon 5D Mkii, with a 50mm prime lens, 1.8f.
It might sound silly, but what adds to this shot for me is the near perfect line created by the rope in opposition to the uneven surfaces of the mountains.
