This is a yellow-shafted Northern Flicker. You can tell he's a male because of his "mustache" - the black stripe coming off of his beak. You can tell he's a yellow-shafted because of the yellow shafts on his feathers and the red spot on the nape of his neck. Yellow-Shafted are found in the east and Red-shafted Flickers are found out west.
