I was at home one day this past summer and my mother called me up and told about this amazing waterfall in NY that supposedly looked as if it belonged somewhere in South America. That waterfall was Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskill Mountains. I decided right away I wanted to go see it for myself. My friend Michelle and I spontaneously drove to NY one day just to go see the waterfall early in the day, probably around noonish and stayed until 3:00pm. It was absolutely breathtaking to see. There was an 80 foot waterfall in front of a 180 foot waterfall. It was like nothing I have ever seen before. We stayed for a while and explored but than we got hungry and decided to go and get some food from a random tavern we found about 20 minutes away. I wasn't satisfied with the shots we had so we decided to go back at sunset. The hike to get to this spot that I took the photo was no walk in the park. It was about a 35 minutes trip up a cliff that was prone to rock slides. When we came back the second time we only brought the gear that we were 100% sure we needed for the shot and we timed how long it took exactly to get to the top. We did this so we could make sure we left the top with enough sunlight to make it out of the woods. I took photos until it got a bit dark and we were very close to being stuck out there. Luckily we ran out of the woods and were able to find the trail just before the sun completely went down. It was a trip that I could not have done without the help of Michelle. One of the best adventures both of us have ever experienced.

It is photographs like this, along with explanations of how you got this out of this world capture, that keeps me coming back to viewbug (I am frustrated with the constant PS/HDR stuff but your shot above is just top class, truly what photography is all about)
Congrats on the contest win and other awards you received, they are VERY well deserved.

The description is great (obviously so is the photo!). It's easy to see a shot and go "lucky he was there" but clearly you've made the effort and timing yourself. Congratulations.

Love the framing, the shape and the form here. The color is amazing as well. Some solar flaring going on but it still works. Great shot.

INCREDIBLE! I love the fact that it looks like a huge eye, and I get the feeling that it could be either the view out of the eye, or looking within it.

This could have been a frame out of one of Peter Jackson's movies ...The Hobbit. Just love it. Well done.
