Seeing_

I have never been able to “see” with my long lens, but after hanging with @matt_jackisch for a few days, he really helped open my eyes. I’ve got an absolute ton to learn about it, but I am ready for the challenge. Looking for things like this has helped me discover things that I would normally drive right past. I obviously need to get much better, but it’s a step in a new direction for me. With limited control over the conditions, sometimes that epic light/scene is just not there, so it’s nice to grab something different (and I do find stuff like this quite interesting) instead of getting skunked.

We were literally driving out the other side of a blizzard and I caught this group of trees out of the corner of my eye just off the road. I slammed on the brakes (Matt and I had an arrangement - “STOP” means stop immediately, I have to shoot lol). “Hey dude, this might suck but I think I see something I wanna shoot”. I felt pretty accomplished spotting this on my own - My first real “long lens discovery”… SO we hopped out and shot the scene. A shot like this is probably beneath Matts portfolio (he’s fuckin awesome btw), but for me this is a good start :-)
