The Spanish padre represents Francisco Garces and or Pedro Pont who are the spiritual leaders, respectively, on the 1774 and 1775 and 1776 Anza expeditions to California. On the far left you can see the Saguaro Sculpture. The Arizona Sonora Desert saguaro is not found naturally in California's Sonora Desert. The sculpture represents the desert from which the Anza expeditions came to California.
