My friend's uncle owns the famed trailer park from the book and film "Into the Wild" so a few times a year we go out for off-roading. This time there was a paragliding festival at the sea with hundreds of people flying. A man had an open faced paraglider/airplane with two seats so much to my mother's dismay I strapped in and braced for take off. We spent 45 minutes flying above the desert/coastal landscape of the salton sea and I saw it in ways I never thought I would. You cannot have a sense for how large the Salton Sea is until you are a few hundred feet in the air looking at it coast to coast.
