This is from the top of the Crown Range, heading from Fox Glacier to Arrowtown, South Island, NZ. Very windy, quite chilly and an incredibly barren landscape. If you look to the far right in the photo you can see the road on which I was about to drive down. I've not encountered such tight hairpin bends in many years!!! The grasses here on the slopes are called Chionochloa rubra or in simple terms Red Tussock Grass, and are extremely hardy little plants to say the least!
