One foggy day in Maine on the isle of Vinalhaven, To get to the island it is a 1 1/2 hours ferry ride from Rockland. Vinalhaven is a small close knit community with the feel of Little House on the Prairie Island style. The only school houses k-12 and some years graduating class of 3 is not uncommon. Many will leave the island for college, however a good percentage return. The center of town is small and if you blink while driving thru it can be missed. Not much in the way of entertainment as there are no theaters or malls, but the view makes up for all that. In my childhood we spent many years on the island walking the rocks, rowing into town, sitting on the shore line reading a book and swimming in the quarry. Even a foggy day is a beautiful day.
