Up at dawn. A quick breakfast of quinoa soup and papas. Pop a couple handfuls of coca leaves into your pockets and the side pouch of your cheeks. Throw on a couple layers of clothing sheered and woven by you. Round up the sheep from the stone enclosure. With a quick yawn and stretch of the back legs, the dogs join in ready to work. Up the mountain you go. 2-3,000 vertical feet to take the sheep for the day to graze. This is life in the Peruvian Andes. Everyday. Simple. Uncomfortable. Difficult....but oh so intrinsically connected.
