It was one of those days in NYC in winter. It was bitterly cold and wet to boot, but I had a free day and didn't want to lose the chance to shoot so I caught the subway down to the Brooklyn Bridge to look for moody bridge scapes. It was a complete washout so I took to the streets to look at some of the old architecture around Tribeca. I loved the look of the Municipal building but it needed something else in the frame to give the scene a context. Then in walked the lone lady in a white coat. The symmetry this created as she walked perfectly down the middle of the pavement aligned with the symmetry of the historic building facade was one of those perfect photographic moments in time. This solitary scene was a complete antithesis of what this part of NYC is usually like and spoke to me about how, even in one of the most populous places in the world, in an amazing city filled with colour and energy, you can still feel completely alone.
