The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
As I walked the narrow passageway deep into the centre of the memorial the dark slabs begin to tower above me. With each step, I had the sensation the walls where growing higher. I could no longer see the horizon, or people, but could hear hushed voices behind the walls. I felt alone, very alone. Suddenly, I was startled when a man darted quickly along the path in front of me and then just as quickly disappeared. It was eerie and I was desperate to get out.
